Slow Down!
I drive 45 minutes to work and don't run into any traffic and am fortunate that it is a nice peaceful drive. There is no need to speed and when I see someone speeding on their way to work I think to myself, "What the hell are you thinking hurrying to work?" But I guess that is the way, we lead ourselves to the slaughter like fries into fat.
So there I was this morning driving slightly below the speed limit and I wonder to myself, as I am want to do when alone, what if we just kept on going. Past our place of work. Past the doughnut shop and convenience store. Past the dozing cop with the limp radar. Just drive until our road ends. Where would we be? Better off? The last chance saloon? Oz? I don't know. But it seems to me that most of us spend most of our lives speeding to get there and never really enjoying the destination. Like Mark Twain said: "The poetry is in the anticipation."
Today I want you to smile at someone miserable.
Today I want you to enjoy every meal like your first orgasm.
Today I want you to laugh at the ride.
